Another Xmas mani for #anxmas2013 - today’s theme is sweet treats. I’m pretty happy with my little gingerbread man! This is the first time I’ve done nail art with acrylic paint and well, what a pleasure! No gloopy drying out brush, no wasting big blobs of nice polish… I’m converted.
I did only do the gingerbread man in with acrylic paint, but I wish I’d done the peppermint candy with it too because I just kept mucking it up :(
By the way, how cute is the ice-cube man ornament? He’s on skis and his arms jiggle!
Last night my sister volunteered as guinea pig to let me practice painting nails that weren’t mine for a change. I hate animal print myself, but I love the look of colourful leopard print nails in the always excellent combo of teal & gold (indoor lighting at 10pm does not capture colour very well, huh?)
I’m actually really impressed with how much I was able to get on her cute little nubbins! I was also surprised at how genuinely easy these are to do - guess that explains why it’s so popular.
Over on Instagram I’m participating in a December nail challenge started by @cats_n_nails. Xmas themed, obviously, and only on odd days (because December is busy enough, right!). Today’s theme was Holiday Colours.
So above I’m wearing Pretty Serious VT100, Ulta3 Sizzling Red and China Glaze The Ten Man over red on my ring finger. Check out the hashtag #anxmas2013 on IG to see what others are coming up with!
OPI Into the Night and Maybelline ColorShow Silver Gleam
I picked up the OPI when The Reject Shop were doing $6 bottles a few weeks ago - except it was the first day they were in, and I guess their system hadn’t updated so the kid at the checkout charged me $1 each! Shame there was such a restricted range (and mostly crackle, boo) or I’d have gone back in and scooped them all up.
As for the Maybelline polish - suuuuper impressed. I’ve found their core ColorShow range to be pretty average, but I’ve now tried the silver, gold and blue from the Sequins collection and they are all incredible. But fair warning - this requires some heavy duty removal (foil method or a good soak), or PVA basecoat as this is pure glitter by the bucketload. The larger glitters play with the light in the most fantastic way!
I’m wearing 3 coats of Into the Nightand only 2 of Silver Gleam, finished off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Fast Dry Top Coat.
Feels like forever since I did some nail art so I whipped out some tape and cling wrap, OPI - Dating a Royal and Sally Hansen - Fuschia Power and voila!
